Simple steps to studying in Canada...
1. Research programs offered by various Canadian universities and colleges through the internet or with direct contact (reference guide contained in this website).
2. Apply to the institution of your choice, stating clearly your selected program of study. Students in Canada must satisfy language proficiency requirements in the language of instruction, either English or French depending on where you apply.
3. Upon acceptance by a recognized Canadian college or university, you must apply for (and be granted) a student permit from Canadian authorities.** You will need:
4. A valid passport
5. An original letter of acceptance from a Canadian university or college
6. Evidence of adequate funds to cover tuition and living costs for you and your dependents, including funds for return transportation
7. In some cases, a medical exam (if the stay in Canada will be over 6 months)
8.
For students accepted by a Québec institution, a Certificat d”Acceptation du Québec (CAQ) from Québec Immigration authorities.
The processing fee for a student permit is $125 (CAD). Processing may take considerable time. Students are advised to apply for a permit six months before the date school starts. Under no circumstances should a student attempt to go to Canada without a valid student permit.
**No student permit is required for courses and training lasting less than six months. A regular visitor visa is sufficient.
